𝐈𝐬𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐚, 𝐍𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐬 𝐎𝐜𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 –In response to the information from the local residents on the presence of armed Communist NPA Terrorists in the hinterlands of La Libertad , the troops of the 62nd Infantry “Unifier” Battalion immediately launched operations and encountered nine (9) armed Communist NPA Terrorists at So Cansampo, Brgy Bagtic, La Libertad, Negros Oriental on June 22, 2023.

The firefight ensued for about five (5) minutes that resulted to the captures of one (1) .357 Revolver, four (4) rounds of serviceable ammunitions for .357 Revolver, and two (2) backpacks with subversive documents and personal belongings. After which, the rattled NPA members scampered towards the southern directions.

Meanwhile, local barangays officials of Brgy Bagtic disclosed that there were no evacuees in the area. The leadership of 62IB is also appealing again to the families and calling those fleeing rebels to voluntarily surrender especially those wounded NPAs to be given proper medical treatment. The government forces are giving them a chance to return to the fold of the law hence, 62IB will never stop hunting them to ensure that long and lasting peace will be attained in Central Negros.
