IMPASUGONG BUKIDNON –During a skirmish between government soldiers and a communist terrorist group (CTG) in the hinterlands of Sitio Cogon-cogon, Barangay Manalog, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon on Saturday morning, March 4, 2023, war supplies and other personal possessions were captured.

The troops from the 8th Infantry (Dependable) Battalion, under operational control of the 403rd Infantry “Peacemaker” Brigade, launched a focused military operation that resulted in an encounter with approximately 20 CPP-NPA terrorists thanks to the support provided by the community of said Barangay to government troopers conducting Mobile Community Support Sustainment (MCSS) operations in the area (CNTs). After a 55-minute battle, troops were able to seize the fortified CNT hideout and capture various war materiel and enemy personal belongings such as one (1) Assault Rifle AK47; three (3) AK47 magazines; 14 rounds of live M203 ammunitions; three (3) Improvised Explosive Device with blasting cap; two (2) extended wires for blasting; one (1) laptop; one (1) electronic tablet; seven (7) assorted cellphones; one (1) Honda generator set;

One (1) soldier was slightly injured on his left cheek, while the CNTs may have suffered multiple losses as a result of extensive bloodstains found along their escape path. 8IB’s pursuit operations against the CNTs are still ongoing.

Col Michele B Anayron Jr, the new Commander of the 403rd Infantry Brigade, praised the soldiers and the population who had grown tired of the CNTs’ deception and falsehoods and are now staunchly backing the AFP’s fight to end the insurgency. “Dako ang akong pagdayig ug pagpasalamat sa atong mga kasundalohan sa ilang malampusong pag responde aron mahatagan ug siguridad ang lumulupyo sa maong lugar,” says the author. “Padayon nga kooperasyon sa atong mga lokal na lumolupyo aron sugpo-on kining mga dautang CPP-NPA terrorist,” I said. The cooperation and partnership demonstrated the perfect institutionalization of Executive Order No. 70 National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) or the “Whole-of-Nation” approach, which significantly facilitated the total decline of CNTs and allowed former rebels to enjoy freedom and take advantage of government services.
