To all women members of the Makabayang Kilusan ng Bagong Kababaehan (MAKIBAKA) and New People's Army, as well as young students, workers and farmers, vendors and drivers, business people, church people, media people, professionals and government employees, OFWs and all the women who are listening to our statement today, greetings and greetings to all of you!
Today, March 8, 2023, is the 46th year of celebrating International Women's Day since it was adopted by the United Nation. It is a commemoration of the history of the women's movement around the world for flagging their basic rights such as equal treatment (gender equality), reproductive rights and violence and abuse against women (violence and abuse against women). We also give a high honor today to all the women revolutionary martyrs who wholeheartedly sacrificed their lives for the interests of the country and the Filipino people.
Under the current US-Marcos regime that succeeded and only continued the brutal and oppressive rule of the former US-Duterte regime, the suffering experienced by women and the Filipino people is getting worse due to the severe collapse of their livelihoods. There is no end to the severe oppression and exploitation of greedy big monopoly capitalist companies and government and military officials. Widespread environmental destruction and expropriation of land by foreign and local landlords to peasants and mountain natives, contractualization and the imposition of unsustainable wages on urban workers and capitalist farms, smuggling, income collapse /income of small and medium entrepreneurs and professionals, increase in the price of petroleum products and all basic commodities, militarization and many more.All of this is the result of the foreign policy of liberalization, deregulation and privatization in the past few decades.
In the current year 2023, there will be 114.3 million people in the Philippines of which 57.02 million (49.9%) are women. In Caraga Region there is a population of 2,804,788 in 2020 of which 47.7% are women and according to the agency NEDA the province of Agusan del Sur is the poorest province which is the first in the population of the region. Agusanon women are not isolated from Filipino women throughout the country who are suffering from severe hardship, oppression and exploitation.
Here in Agusan del Sur, the company API and FPPI with the AFP continue to spread cruelty and oppression to the workers and farmers. Women and their families have become victims of harassment and destruction of their unions and cooperatives, flagrant violations of their rights, illegal arrests and detentions and killings by agents and members of the executioner AFP/PNP. Meanwhile, the majority of women and their families are victims of the false support promised by the fake cooperative farmers established through the National Greening Program (NGP) and Upland Sustainable Agriculture Development (USAD) by the reactionary government. They are burdened with debt due to the low yield and price of their products such as cacao, rubber, palcata and etc. and are in danger of having their land seized as payment.
Because of this, young women lose the opportunity to go to school and are forced to work or enter into anti-social activities and enter into marriage before the right schooling age to free them from hardship.
In general, the situation is ripe for women to wake up, organize and mobilize their broad ranks. It's time to stop fearing, following and being silent. Open the minds of social issues and transform them into active action and participation for basic changes in the status of society and women.
In the mountains, women must take the lead in studying and exposing the schemes of land grabbing and environmental destruction, in the fake development programs led by reactionary agencies, government officials and landlords. The big capitalists and local landlords have been salivating over the lands of Agusan del Sur for a long time and they are in danger of being taken from the hands of the farmers through fraud and brutality.
This must be linked to the call to expel and dismantle the danga detachments of the pnp/afp/cafgu in the countryside. It is clearly taught by ksyn and our experiences that it does not protect the well-being and instead leads to the trampling and abuse of the rights and honor of kbyn especially the youth. Above all, it does not help to solve the problem of land, low price of production m2, low wages, high % of loans, theft, gambling, hooking, raping and etc. antisocial behavior in the rural or urban areas where they are located. .
Women must build unions and other forms of urban solidarity in offices, factories, offices, capitalist farms, etc. to push for fair wages and other benefits.
The female student youth must persevere in awakening its ranks and unite in protests to assert the rights of education and against the mandatory military training in schools which is only a weapon to suppress the students and milk the corruption that is more difficult for parents.
NPA women, above all, must hold fast to the basic principles and duties. The deceitful psychological war launched by the enemy that aims to weaken and break the armed resistance of the people must be sharply and sharply countered.
The kabyn needs to free her thinking from the reHas that imprison her in the corrupt view of herself as weak, submissive and just for men's decoration and entertainment. Taking up arms is the only highest form of liberation and joining the revolutionary people's army is the kbyn's only armed weapon to protect and fight for the upholding of its rights.
So women, let's move, let's start the so-called self-standing and continue. Arming is reasonable to fully protect and defend oneself. Join the New People's Army and join the revolution we launched.
