The 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division Commander, Major General Benedict Arevalo is hoping that the rest of the members of the CPP-NPA terrorist will now come to their senses, following the arrest of a known leader of the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) in Panay who is according to the arrest warrant, is an active member of the terrorist group (NPA).

Elmer Forro, 52, a resident of Barangay Cagamutan Norte, Leganes, Iloilo was arrested at Sitio Bangko Barangay Lutac, Cabatuan, Iloilo on March 29, 2022 by virtue of warrant of arrest for the crime of murder docketed in Criminal Case No. 21-0909 with “no bail”, and attempted murder docketed in Criminal Case No. 21-0908 with bail amounting to P120,000.

The warrant of arrest was issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 76, Janiuay, Iloilo on March 5, 2022.

Allegedly he was one of the NPA rebels under the Central Front of the Communist Party of the Philippines in Panay, who is responsible for the death of Pfc Mark Nemis, as the said terrorist group ambushed the troops of 61st Infantry Battalion in Barangay Panuran, Lambunao town on April 7, 2022.

With the gathered informations, Forro is an active Leader of Central Front Organization-Komiteng Rehiyon-Panay (KR Panay) operating in Panay Island, and hiding his real position in the underground movement as the current Secretary General of Bayan Panay.

Meanwhile, MGen Arevalo urged the rest of the CPP-NPA members to surrender to the government or else they will suffer the same fate, with that of their comrades, either arrested or get killed.

“The arrest of Forro is a strong message to other NPA leaders and members to return to the folds of the law while they still have chance”, said MGen Arevalo.
