Kalinaw News: Communist Terrorist Group’s last bomb expert in Davao De Oro surrenders to 10ID

From Kalinaw News (Aug 19, 2022): Communist Terrorist Group’s last bomb expert in Davao De Oro surrenders to 10ID

MAWAB, Davao De Oro – The last bomb expert of the Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC) of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) voluntarily surrendered to the 25th Infantry Battalion under the 10th Infantry “Agila” Division in Monkayo, Davao De Oro on August 16, 2022.

Alias “Delmar”, 28 years old, was responsible for producing Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) for the CTG’s bombing and landmine operations in Davao Region.

According to 25IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Michael Aquino, Delmar surrendered due to the intensified intelligence efforts and relentless combat operations. In addition, Delmar also revealed that the rampant corruption inside their group and the lack of financial support for their families prompted him to yield to government forces.

Meanwhile, 10ID Commander MGen Nolasco A Mempin lauded the 25IB and 1001st Infantry Brigade for their aggressive efforts in ensuring that all remaining CTG members in Davao De Oro surrender to the government forces.

Davao De Oro was declared Insurgency-Free last June 22, 2022 after all the eight (8) full-blown guerilla fronts previously operating in the province were dismantled.
