Newly-installed Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Gregorio Pio Catapang has vowed to help all local government units in the country in implementing development programs and projects in far flung areas.
Catapang made the assurance during his visit to the 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army based in ttis town Wednesday where he personally extended the commendation to the soldiers who had an encounter with the New Peoples Army (NPA) remnants in Lacub, Abra last week.
He said the soldiers in the country are closely coordinating with local government units to implement their development programs and projects particularly in areas where there are threats of insurgency.
He said the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is mandated to protect the internal and external threats to ensure a safe place for Filipinos to live in.
“The government is pursuing to implement programs and projects in the country and the soldiers are diligently cooperating with the government to ensure prompt implementation of all programs and projects for the benefit of the people”, Catapang said.
Catapang said the soldiers are also coordinating with national government agencies in implementing their respective programs and projects like the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Agriculture (DA) and other government agencies in the country.
The AFP chief called on all sectors in the area of operations of 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army to coordinate and cooperate in the in the implementation of their programs and projects for the benefit of everyone.
