PH navy future frigates getting Terma decoy launching system

From Update Philippines (Nov 4): PH navy future frigates getting Terma decoy launching system

The Denmark-headquartered defense and aerospace manufacturer Terma will be supplying the C-Guard naval decoy launching system for Philippine Navy’s two future frigates to be constructed by South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI).

The C-Guard system uses 130 mm NATO decoy rounds. Each future frigates will be installed with two launching systems composed of 6 tubes.

Terma said Philippines has mandated HHI to select the most adapted self-protection solution, combining proven technology, cost-effectiveness, small footprint, and high operational flexibility in order to protect these strategic assets.

“C-Guard has been thoroughly evaluated and finally selected as the solution best responding to the Philippine Navy needs and requirements,” Terma added.

The Danish company said that more than 200 C-Guard systems are currently in operation worldwide, providing effective protection against any type of surface and underwater threat may it be Radio Frequency, InfraRed, or Dual Seeker missiles and torpedoes.

Philippine Navy’s future frigates will be armed with a variety of sensors and weapons capable of detecting and neutralizing air, surface, and submarine threats. They will be also capable of electronic warfare.
