From Kalinaw News (Aug 18, 2022): Local terrorist yields, hands over firearms to military in Maguindanao
Camp Navarro, Calarian, Zamboanga City – August 18, 2022
A member of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters surrendered to the 6th Mechanized Infantry Battalion in Maguindanao on August 17, 2022.
Lt. Col. Ferdinand Dela Cruz, Commanding Officer of 6Mech Bn, identified the former violent extremist as a certain Rosbil, a BIFF affiliate and Private Armed Group member under Jun Barang. Surrendered personality turned over his Ultimax 100 5.56mm Light Machine Gun to Lt. Col. Dela Cruz after which he was presented to Lt. Col. Johnny Bayog, Chief of Staff of the 1st Brigade Combat Team at the Army Command Post of the 6Mech Bn in Barangay Pigcalagan, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao.
Sultan Banjo Mampon, Municipal Administrator of Sultan Kudarat, and other representatives of the local government unit witnessed the presentation. The LGU provided assistance as part of the Balik-Baril Program.
Rosbil will also undergo documentation for the issuance of appropriate clearance and documents for his enrollment in the Agila-Haven Program.
Lt. Gen. Alfredo Rosario, Jr., Commander of Western Mindanao Command commended the troops of the 6Mech Bn for facilitating the surrender of the former violent extremist. He also attributed the success of the armed forces in the campaign against terrorism to the local government units and civil society. “Together, we will soon achieve our common goal,” he said.
