MAWAB, Davao de Oro – The 10th Infantry “Agila” Division neutralized another high-ranking New People’s Army (NPA) leader and two (2) others from a series of clashes at Barangay Tupaz, Maragusan, Davao De Oro on Sunday morning, March 27, 2022.
The two successive armed encounters resulted in the neutralization of Ezequiel Cortez Daguman alias Rey, central committee member of the Communist Party of the Philippines, Deputy Secretary and Head of the Intelligence Operations, ROC, SMRC; Ruel Baylon alias James, a former member of the Pulang Bagani Command (PBC) and was later transferred to ROC, SMRC; and Quirino Remegio alias Jelly/Manoy, a member of iskwad Baking, ROC, and a former member of Weakened Guerilla Front 2 who was transferred to ROC, SMRC.
Also, the troops recovered seven (7) high-powered firearms breakdown as follows; one (1) M4 rifle, one (1) M16A1 rifle, one (1) CZ858 AK47 rifle, and two (2) M4 rifles both attached with M203 Grenade Launchers. One (1) anti-personnel improvised explosive device with several 40mm high-explosive munitions, personal belongings, medical paraphernalia, and subversive documents with high intelligence value were found at the encounter sites.
Moreover, Daguman has existing warrants of arrest to include Kidnapping and Serious Illegal Detention with CC number R-DVO-15-0417-CR; Double Murder with CC Nr 56, 747-05; Robbery with violence with CC Nr 382-2005; Serious Illegal Detention with CC Nr R-DVO-17-101020-CR; and Murder with CC Nr 25302 issued by the 11th Judicial Region Branch 10, 11 and 30 and 12th Judicial Region Branch 23 and 14.
Meanwhile, Major General Nolasco A Mempin, 10ID Commander commends the troops of the 1001st Infantry Brigade under BGen Jesus P Durante III for another accomplishment and for their relentless push to clear more grounds from CTG infestation, especially in Davao de Oro.
“Your Agila Troopers will continue to pursue the remaining Communist NPA Terrorists in Southern Mindanao, and will not rest until the whole area of 10ID will be free from the presence of the CPP-NPA-NDF,” MGen Mempin added.
