FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija — Fifty former members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) have denounced the more than five-decade-long of atrocities of the New People’s Army during its 53rd Founding Anniversary in a ceremony held at the Covered Court of Barangay Ditumabo, San Luis, Aurora on March 29, 2022.

The Commander of the 7th Infantry (KAUGNAY) Division, Philippine Army said that the Army along with the former CTG members and the peace-loving communities are in one in condemning the atrocities of the New People’s Army and stressed that with the success of the Executive Order Number 70 of the government, there is no more reason for the latter to celebrate its anniversary.

“For more than five decades the communist New People’s Army did nothing good to the Filipino people but atrocities that resulted in the slow development in the countryside. With the E.O No. 70, the NPA has suffered irreversible defeat and massive loss of manpower and resources, so why celebrate a dead ideology that is now abandoned by most of its members?” said MGen Costelo.

During the activity, Ka Ariel, one of the former NPA said that the attendees are now purely civilian former rebels revolting against the CPP-NPA and condemning its acts of terrorism.

The group also condemned the human rights violations of the CPP-NPA, the killing of their relatives, recruitment of minors, robbery, extortion, destruction of civilian-owned properties, and undermining of the government among others.

Juliet Capistrano of Masaganang Perlas ng Silangan ng Aurora Province, Inc. (MAPSAP), one of the farmers’ groups located at Sitio Dicaloyungan, Barangay Zabali, Baler, Aurora who attended the peace rally warned the public about the deceptive strategy of the CTGs to survive, that is to feed the people’s discontent and exploiting it for them to join the rally.

“We have a problem on land and that issue was used by the CTGs only to find out that there is a government who can give solutions to our problem,” she said.

Flor Calvelo of Solo parents of Diteki calls for NPA members to surrender and return to mainstream society.

On the other hand, Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo (KKDAT) John Cholo Dumanay said that the youth should beware of ideologies of CPP-NPA that instill hatred to kindle rebellion to fight against the government.
