MAWAB, Davao De Oro - The 10th Infantry (Agila) Division conducted Send-Off Ceremony for the 28th Infantry (Kamagong) Battalion (28IB) as they prepared for United Nations (UN) Peace Support Operations (PSO) Mission held at the Sgt. Demerin Grandstand, Camp General Manuel T Yan Sr., Mawab, Davao De Oro, on June 13, 2023.
The 28IB will comprise the Core Unit of the Philippine Army United Nations Light Infantry Battalion (Team) for the UN PSO Mission. Likewise, the 28IB will undergo training in Luzon for almost a year before their deployment in 2024.
In his message, MGen Niembra advised the Kamagong troopers to embrace the mission with utmost dedication and professionalism.
"Your actions will speak volumes about the character and results of the Filipino soldiers. Remember, you are not only representing the 10th Infantry Division but also the Philippine Army and the Philippines as a whole. Your conduct will shape the perception of future Filipino peacekeepers, and you have the power to inspire generations to come," added MGen Niembra.
During the ceremony, the 28IB received Command Plaques from the 1001st Infantry Brigade and the 10ID for dismantling Guerilla Front 2 and Sub-Regional Guerilla Unit (SRGU) of Sub-Regional Committee 2 (SRC 2), all under the Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC), that help led to an Insurgency-Free Davao De Oro.
