Maco, Davao de Oro – Troops under 1001st Infantry (PAG-ASA) Brigade (1001Bde) recovered another 3 high powered firearms in Barangay Malamudao, Maco, Davao de Oro on April 27, 2021
This came after Julius Acquiatan Alias Virgo, former Vice Commanding Officer of the weakened Guerrilla Front 2 operating in Maco revealed the location of the arms cache. Immediately, troops of 28 Infantry Battalion under 1001Bde proceeded in the area and recovered one (1) M16 Armalite, one (1) M653 Baby Armalite and a Sniper rifle.
In a statement, Brig. Gen. Luis Rex Bergante, Commander, 1001Bde commended the troops’ splendid performance and utmost dedication to Duty. “I commend the troops of Pag-asa Brigade for yet another significant accomplishment. Your exemplary performance and dedication is worthy of emulation and to Virgo who showed sincerity in returning to the folds of law and tipping off their previous arms cache. We assured him that his sincerity is recognized.” Bergante added.
It can be recalled that Julius Acquiatan Alias Virgo, surrendered to the government forces last April 8, this year. He said that he was already disheartened with the NPA since the promises of good life never came true, aside from being tired of running. Exhausted and his longing to be with his family further solidified his intentions to return to the folds of the law.
He was enrolled to the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP) and is eligible to its entitlement.
