Kalinaw News: Former Rebels Receive E-CLIP Assistance

Posted to Kalinaw News (Apr 29, 2021): Former Rebels Receive E-CLIP Assistance

Maco, Davao de Oro – A total of Php 2, 757,000.00 in cash was awarded to 44 former rebel beneficiaries from different Municipalities in Davao de Oro through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) on April 28, 2021.

The Provincial Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy represented by Hon. Macario T Humol, the Board member of Davao de Oro assisted by Brigadier General Luis Rex Bergante, Commander, 1001st Infantry Brigade and Mr. Noel C Duarte, DILG Provincial Director, personally handed over the checks to the beneficiaries in a ceremony held at Nabunturan, Davao de Oro. An immeasurable amount of happiness was manifested thru the faces of the beneficiaries as well as their respective families who were also present in the activity.

Mr. Duarte addressed the former rebels in his opening remarks, “Davao de Oro is very happy in helping you as you return to the folds of law. Along with the cash assistance there are also capability and capacity building trainings and seminars coming from the different line government agencies. All you have to do is coordinate with the army unit nearest you.

Likewise, Hon. Humol said that Peace and Order is the Province’s priority. “The province of Davao de Oro, along with its Line Government agencies thru the OPLAN PAGBABAGO will always work together for Peace and Development”

Furthermore, Brigadier General Bergante congratulated the beneficiaries for making the right decision on coming forward and surrendering. “Your Army here in Davao de Oro will continue working for Peace and assures your safety, not only physically but also psychologically.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Isidro Labonite Jr, one of the beneficiaries expressed his gratitude to the government. “My life really changed when I surrendered. The government is good, unlike what they have always told us in their propaganda. NPA always prevented the Government services to reach the far-flung areas – to project that they are better. They are the reason why the poor becomes poorer. I am really thankful to the true government of the people and the people who played a vital role in my surrender and enlightened me of the truth. The CPP-NPA is full of lies and deception.”

Prior to the distribution of their benefits, these former rebels (FRs) undergone a tedious process of validation to determine their authenticity. After the validation, they also underwent de-radicalization process, which prepares them for their return to the mainstream society.

The amount distributed covers the initial cash assistance amounting to P 15,000, P 50,000 for livelihood assistance and firearms remuneration to the surrendered firearms.
