The said activity which was supported by Ms. Nancy De Guzman, OIC, School Administrator and Ms. Victoria Sumayod, Head Designate Student Support Service Department and other key stakeholders of the school. It was purposely conducted to enlighten the students on the terroristic activities, including the recruitment schemes of Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), its armed wing New People’s Army (NPA), and its political machinery, National Democratic Front (NDF) on the youth, students, and other vulnerable sectors. Inputs, sharing of experiences and discussions were featured during the IEC that was actively participated by the two hundred (200) participants.

Former rebels (FRs) who are now with the 23IB also shared their actual experiences in recruiting students and youths, the difficulties they endured, and the effects to their families who were left unattended for months and years. A film showing was also facilitated that portrayed the lives of former rebels.

Kuya Louie was among the FRs who shared his experiences with the fishery students at NMSF during the activity. He alerted the students of the tactics NPAs usually employ in luring them to join the movement and fight the government. Louie also emphasized that there is no good future inside NPA movement, only the destruction of the lives of the victimized innocent youths and students.

Lt. Col. Julius Cesar C. Paulo, Commander, 23IB thanked the students for their active participation during the activity. He also extended his heartfelt gratitude to the management and staff of NMSF for allowing the conduct of the IEC that was aimed to secure the lives and the future of the students. “Your army, together with its partner agencies, will put its full effort in protecting the vulnerable sectors of our society, particularly the youths and the students. We are also working hard to end the insurgency here in Agusan del Norte. We will not allow the terrorist group to continue their unlawful actions by recruiting our youth and students and eventually destroy their future,” Paulo said.
