Posted to Kalinaw News (Apr 30, 2021): Army’s Campaign on the Proliferation of Loose Firearms in Lanao del Sur Province Prevailed
SAGUIARAN, Lanao del Sur – Local Leaders of three (3) towns in Lanao del Sur, showed full support to the campaign of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on the proliferation of loose firearms here today, April 29, 2021.
The intensified key leaders engagements of Liutenant Colonel Rafman S Altre INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of 82nd Infantry Battalion, to the municipal mayors of Buadipuso Buntong, Ditsaan Ramain, and Bubong, resulted to the surrender of five (5) high powered, and two (2) low powered loose firearms at the Battalion Headquarters of 82nd Infantry Battalion in Saguiaran town.
During the turn-over of said loose firearms, Liutenant Colonel Altre, lauded the efforts of the local chief executives and motivated all other municipal mayors in the province to be more relentless in putting a stop against the proliferation of loose firearms.
Meanwhile, Brigadier General Jose Maria R Cuerpo II, 103rd Infantry Brigade Commander, reiterated his call for the collaborative support and cooperation of the local key leaders and traditional elders to be vigilant in order to achieve a sustainable peace in the area.
Said loose firearms were presented by the battalion commander to the brigade commander at the headquarters of 82IB in Barangay Pawak, Saguiaran, Lanao del Sur.
The Division Commander of Tabak Division, Major General Generoso M Ponio PA, on the otherhand, lauded the efforts of the Bantay Laya Troopers as this feat contributed to the overall accomplishments of the division’s mission.
At the same time, Major General Eric C Vinoya, Division Commander of 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division, Philippine Army, congratulated the unit for its laudable achievements in suppressing terrorism and lawlessness so that other government agencies and organizations can work freely with the local officials to restore self-sustaining governance.
