Roselyn Jean Pelle Command – Northern Negros Guerilla Front of the New People’s Army (RJPC-NPA) alerts the public, especially the residents of Calatrava, Negros Occidental, on the ongoing military operations in the mountain barangays of Calatrava.
The 79th IB Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) teams are in Sitio Proper, Barangay Lalong; Sitio Victory, Barangay Minapasuk; and Sitio Huybesan, Barangay Marcelo. They are using public structures within a populated area as temporary camp.
On top of that, RJPC-NPA monitored joint combat operations of 79th IB and 6th SAF, around two (2) companies in total, covering barangays Mina-utok, Cambayobo, Winaswasan, Pantao, Malatas, Macasilao, Cruz, Menchaca, Laga-an, Hinab-ungan and Hilub-ang since November 21 until December 9.
There were reports of at least seven (7) incidents of community encampment.
With heavy military presence in Calatrava, residents fear for their security and safety, especially with the record of human rights violations perpetrated by 79th IB and 6th SAF.
RJPC-NPA calls on various rights group and peace advocates to conduct investigative missions on said areas and assist residents in filing cases against human rights violators.
