MANILA, Philippines — After 26 years of hiding, a “most wanted” Abu Sayyaf Group member finally yielded to authorities in Tawi-tawi, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.
“In a successful intelligence-led police operation, the PNP arrested a notorious most wanted Abu Sayyaf member who had been evading the authorities for the past 26 years,” the PNP said in a statement on Thursday.
The PNP said Tatoh Datu Adingih, who had been using the false name of “Tatoh Moro,” was apprehended by joint police and military operation in the afternoon of April 26, Wednesday in Barangay Simalak in Languyan town.
Judge Abdulmaid Muin of the Regional Trial Court Branch 5 in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi issued on June 14, 2007, the warrant of arrest for Adingih for the crime of murder.
Adingih was wanted for murder and was the top 9 most wanted person in Tawi-Tawi. — Aliah Gumasing, trainee
