Posted to Kalinaw News (Apr 3, 2023): 4 NPA terrorists surrender in Central Negros
CAMP GERONA, MURCIA, Negros Occidental – After realizing that they have no future with the Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs), four (4) combatants of the CPP-NPA-NDF surrendered in Central Negros on March 29, 2023.
The four NPAs yielded to 62nd Infantry Battalion led by its Commanding Officer LtColonel William Pesase Jr, under the direct supervision of 303rd Infantry Brigade headed by Colonel Orlando Edralin, Brigade Commander, together with the PNP and Guihulngan City Task Force-ELCAC (GCTF-ELCAC) at 62IB Advance Command Post, Camp Tirambulo, Brgy McKinley in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.
The surrenderees, whose true identities are temporarily withheld for their safety, were currently at the custody of the 62IB as they will undergo profiling, validation and debriefing in order to officially avail the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).
According to them, they are already fed-up with the false promises of the NPA leaders and decided to leave the armed struggle due to internal conflict, lack of medical support and leadership issues within their organization. Most importantly, they would like to avail of the government’s E-CLIP being implemented by the local government for them to start a peaceful and new life together with their families.
Meanwhile, Col. Edralin said, “The cooperation of the people has been a great factor in enlightening many of our brothers of choosing the right path towards peace. We are hoping that more from their group will surrender in the interest of reconciliation for the peace and their own development.
I commend the efforts of the 62IB in its aggressive campaign of bringing back our brothers and sisters to the folds of the law. Also, the bravery and courage of the surrenderees who abandoned the armed struggle for their own good. This is a clear manifestation of the former rebels’ trust in the government especially to the Army in Negros. It will greatly reduce the strength of the Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) in Negros Island, “ Colonel Edralin added.
