ISABELA CITY, Basilan Province – The former violent extremists (FVEs), who are now enrolled in the Program Against Violent Extremism (PAVE), received a sack of rice each and cash assistance last Thursday afternoon, 06 May 2021, at the Headquarters of 4th Special Forces Battalion, Barangay Cabunbata, Isabela City, Basilan.
A total of fifty-six (56) former violent extremists, who are former Abu Sayyaf members, benefited from the rice and cash assistance distribution as initiated by Deputy Speaker Mujiv S. Hataman, the Representative of the Lone District of Basilan, as he extends support to the former violent extremists this Holy Month of Ramadhan.
Colonel Gregorio S. Nieveras, the Deputy Brigade Commander of 101st Infantry Brigade, said that the military fully supports the Program Against Violent Extremism and reminds the former violent extremists to always live in peace.
“Ang 101st Infantry Brigade ay one hundred percent na sumusuporta sa inyo, sa lahat ng aming makakaya. Sa mga kapatid natin na nasa kabila pa, sana ay mahikayat din natin sila na bumaba na.” Colonel Nieveras expressed in his message.
Lieutenant Colonel Alex D. Ampati, the Commanding Officer of 4th Special Forces Battalion, also said that his unit will continuously assist the former violent extremists until they are fully reintegrated back to their respective communities as responsible and productive citizens.
It can be recalled two weeks ago that alias Tol, a former ASG member and a recipient of agricultural support program under AS2G CARE of Balay Mindanaw Foundation Inc, donated some of his harvests to the community pantry of Youth For Peace Organization in Barangay Cabunbata, Isabela City to help other families who are experiencing difficulty this pandemic.
