Vice Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo of Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental and her husband have surrendered to the Western Visayas police, weeks after an arrest order against them for allegedly possessing explosives was released.
Photos from the Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) showed Yulo and husband Felix Mathias Segundo Feria Yulo III appearing before Regional Director Chief Supt. John Bulalacao on Tuesday noon.
According to the warrant of arrest from the Regional Trial Court Branch 63 of La Carlota City, the couple was charged with violation of R.A. 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.
In December 2017, police manning a checkpoint supposedly found two fragmentation grenades inside their car.
Information filed in court also showed that the Yulos had two unlicensed .45 caliber pistols and live ammunition with them. The court set the bail at P200,000 each.
Vice Mayor Yulo has been tagged as a supporter of the Communist Party of the Philippines’ armed wing, the New People’s Army, an accusation that the local exec’s camp has denied.
