Communist Party of the Philippines founding chair Jose Maria Sison has assailed President Duterte for selling out the Philippines in exchange of loans from China.
“Traidor at estupido talaga si Duterte,” Sison tweeted, reacting to a Wall Street Journal news report titled “China Poised to Win Major Victory in Sea Dispute With Help of Philippine Resources Deal.”
“He is selling out the sovereign rights of the Filipino people over trillions of dollars worth of oil, gas and other natural resources in the West Philippine Sea in exchange for a few billion dollars worth of Chinese loans,” he said.
Sison said Duterte was “begging” for Chinese loans for infrastructure projects implemented and “overpriced by Chinese contractors.”
