KAMPO RANAO, Marawi City (DWDD) – Military forces were able to neutralize nine (9) more Maute stragglers in the main battle area of Marawi City.
According to AFP Joint Task Force Ranao Deputy Commander Col Romeo Brawner Jr., the latest neutralization of Maute stragglers is in connection with the continuous clearing operations by the military.
They are now looking into reports that among the nine casualty is new Daesh-Southeast Asia Emir Amin Baco, who took over after the death of Isnilon Hapilon.Malaysian Amin Baco
Col Brawner confirmed that one of the Maute stragglers killed is Ibrahim Maute alias Abu Jamil, cousin of the Maute brothers Omar and Abdullah.
The AFP is continuously conducting clearing operations in the MBA to rid the area of remaining terrorist and their supporters, and of unexploded ordnance and Improvised Explosive Devices.
Brawner added that they believe the Maute stragglers hiding in the city is down to 20 mostly made up of a few fighters and their relatives, after successive operations resulted in their neutralization. AES/ALS
