From DWDD AFP Civil Relations Service Radio Website (Nov 6): CLEARING OPERATIONS | Terrorist kin’s still holed up in Marawi
MARAWI CITY, Lanao Del Sur (DWDD) – The Armed Forces of the Philippines confirmed the presence of children in the main battle area in Marawi City.
According to Col Romeo Brawner Jr., Deputy Commander, AFP Joint Task Force Ranao, although the Maute terror group had child warriors, most of the children seen running around the main battle area and hiding in canals are believed to be unarmed and are children / family members of Maute members
Based on the revelation of captured Indonesian terrorist Muhammad Ilham Syahputra, he estimates that there are at least 30 Maute stragglers hiding in the MBA.
Col Brawner added that these Maute stragglers are currently scattered in different areas of the MBA, covering around 24 barangays, but are not considered serious threats to soldiers conducting clearing operations. AES/ALS
