CAMP PERALTA, Jamindan, Capiz – The 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division under the leadership of MGen Dinoh Dolina lauded the municipality of Maasin for hitting the record as the first Municipality in the province of Iloilo to declare the CPP-NPA Terrorist persona non grata.

“The role of our LGUs is vital in ending insurgency in the province; hence, I am commending the municipality of Maasin for taking the lead role in preventing the CPP-NPA Terrorist from entering and casting more terror in their communities by declaring them unwelcome. And, I am urging other municipalities to do the same in order to make this communist-terrorist group permanently irrelevant.”

According to LTC Joel Benedict Batara, Commanding Officer, 61st Infantry (Hunter) Battalion, the Municipal Peace and Order Council headed by Hon. Francis Amboy, the town mayor, passed and approved the Resolution No. 01, Series of 2019 on August 08, 2019 condemning the terroristic acts relentlessly committed by the CPP- NPA Terrorists and declaring them as persona non grata.

The resolution pointed out that the terrorist group launched series of atrocities targeting military, police, civilians and even government and private properties through liquidations, harassments, extortions and recruitment within the municipality affecting its socio-economic advancement.

In June 2017, around 50 fully armed CPP-NPA terrorists ransacked the Maasin police station and carted away several firearms and even personal belongings of the duty policemen.

“It was also cited in the resolution that these atrocities propagated fear to the general public and even potential investors which made a terrible economic implication not only in the municipality but the whole province of Iloilo,” said LTC Batara.

Further, the resolution emphasized that the atrocities perpetrated by the group are manifestations of betrayal of achieving peace, thus, disrupting the peace and order situation of the municipality.
