From the Visayan Daily Star (Mar 12): Nab 62IB members, NPA orders
The Leonardo Panaligan Command of the New People’s Army ordered its fighters to arrest members of the 62nd Infantry Battalion and its agents, who were behind what it called the “illegal arrest” of six teenagers in Mabinay, Negros Oriental.
Ka JB Regalado, in a statement he issued yesterday, also ordered the arrest of a certain Leonel Librado and Pedro Rafols, to face their charges before the revolutionary court.
The National Democratic Front-Negros and the Leonardo Panaligan Command have condemned the arrest of Myles Albasin and five of her companions, stressing that the firearms allegedly recovered from them were “planted”.
Regalado maintained that there was no encounter, which claims was also supported by NDF –Negros spokesman Frank Fernandez.
The Army’s 3rd Infantry Division earlier slammed the CPP-NPA for the continuing recruitment of minors, citing the recent encounter in Mabinay, Negros Oriental, where two of the six captured rebels were minors.
But Regalado said they are strictly observing the recruitment of their members, 18 years and above, who are physically fit, with good records, with recommendations from their territorial units.
Those issued firearms are those who have completed the required political and military courses and study, he added.
Regalado also condemned what he claimed tobe a series of killings of innocent civilians, especially that of Toto de Asis, perpetrated by state security forces last month.
