3 Visayas Army commanders promoted

Three commanders of key Army units in Visayas, who all belong to the Philippine Military Academy of Class 1991, have been promoted, as approved by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Three of the promoted 33 senior military officers are assigned with the Army’s 3rd Infantry Division with headquarters at Camp Macario Peralta in Jamindan, Capiz.

Promoted to the rank of major general was Brig. Gen. Marion Sison, 3rd Infantry Division commander, while elevated to the rank of brigadier general were Negrense Col. Michael Samson and Col. Orlando Edralin, commanders of the 301st and 303rd Infantry Brigades, respectively.

Aside from Sison, Samson, Edralin, their batchmate, Brig. Gen. Leonardo Peña, was recently designated as the Assistant Division Commander of 3ID.

The 301st Infantry Brigade supervises three Army battalions in Panay Island, while there are three Army battalions being supervised by the 303rd Infantry Brigade in Negros Occidental.

On the other hand, the successor of Peña as 302nd Infantry Brigade commander, who will supervise another three Army battalions in Negros Oriental, has not been known as of this time.
