Posted to Kalinaw News (Oct 30, 2021): 2 CNTs killed in a clash with Government Troops in Isabela
CAMP MELCHOR F DELA CRUZ, Upi, Gamu, Isabela- Two Communist NPA Terrorists (CNTs) were killed in an encounter with government troops in Diwagao Complex, Tappa, San Mariano, Isabela noon of October 29, 2021.
The troops responded to the information tipped-off by the residents about the presence of CNTs. Upon verification, the operating troops were fired upon by the CNTs who were surprised by the presence of the troops. Firefight immediately ensued and lasted for about five minutes after which, the terrorist NPAs scampered to different directions. The troops immediately cleared the encounter site and discovered two dead bodies of CNTs with two M16 rifles. With the help of the former rebels, the two enemy casualties were identified as alias DAVE, Squad leader and alias ALBERT, an element, both from the remaining squad of the Regional Sentro De Gravidad (RSDG), Komiteng Rehiyon Cagayan Valley (KRCV) in that area. The said group was tasked to reestablish their lost mass base in that part of San Mariano.
The troops incurred zero casualty and are now coordinating with the local officials of San Mariano, Isabela for the proper disposition of the remains of the two killed CNTs.
MGen Laurence E Mina, Commander of 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army commended the troops of 95 Infantry “Salaknib” Battalion under Lt Col Carlos B Sangdaan and the elements of the 1st Isabela Police Mobile Force Company for their immediate response that resulted to the successful operation. He likewise extended his gratitude to the residents for continuously feeding timely information that led to the armed engagement. “The support of the people is the key factor in achieving our goal of ending insurgency. The prompt relay of information and the rapid reaction of the troops preempted the terroristic plans of the CTGs against the people. Let it be known that San Mariano is not a safe place for Terrorist NPAs to hide.”
