Kalinaw News: Army-PNP troops recover NPA arms cache

Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija – An NPA hideout was discovered by joint elements of the 91st Infantry “Sinagtala” Battalion (91IB), the 703rd Infantry “Agila” Brigade, the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office (NEPPO), and 3rd Regional Mobile Force Battalion (3RMFB) while conducting focused military operations at Barangay Labi, Bongabon, Nueva Ecija, at around 10:00 a.m. today (April 30, 2020).

The location of the abandoned NPA bandit’s lair was disclosed by civilians in the area who were fed up on the intimidations and extortions made by the said terrorist group.

Recovered from the site were the following: one (1) caliber .45 pistol with one (1) magazine and one (1) round of live ammunition, one (1) caliber .38 revolver with three (3) rounds of live ammunition, one (1) caliber .22 home-made pistol (automatic) with one (1) magazine and five (5) rounds of live ammunition, one (1) generator, one (1) 81mm mortar ammunition, four (4) M203 grenade launcher ammunition, two (2) rifle grenades, one (1) hand grenade, 150 rounds of caliber 30 live ammunition, 15 rounds of 5.56mm live ammunition, and 12 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition.

“All recovered items have been turned over to 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (1PMFC) of NEPPO for proper handling and disposition,” Lieutenant Colonel Reandrew P. Rubio of the 91IB explained. He further said, “Our people can rest assured that we will continue to go after the NPA bandits to ensure that they will not get a chance to cause harm again on them especially during the course of our fight against COVID-19.”

Having received report of the recovered war materiel, Brigadier General Alfredo V. Rosario, Jr., Commander of 7th Infantry “Kaugnay” Division, said, “Hindi tayo titigil hanggat hindi natin nabibigyang katiyakan ang kaligtasan ng mga tao sa aming nasasakupan.” He further stated that with the intensified operations being conducted by the Army and the PNP, he expects more to surrender from the NPA ranks and that more war materiel will also be surrendered.
