From DWDD AFP Civil Relations Service Radio Website (Jul 25): CSYNFI | Private Sector Organizations Express Support to the Philippine Navy
NAVAL STATION JOSE ANDRADA , Roxas Blvd., Manila (DWDD) – The Philippine Navy (PN), led by the Flag Officer in Command, Vice Adm. Ronald Joseph S. Mercado, received at the PN headquarters on July 21, 2017 a group of private sector organizations and individuals who expressed support for Sailors and Marines through the Citizens’ Support Your Navy Foundation, Inc. (CSYNFI). The CSYNF is a private, non-stock foundation, which undertakes programs and projects for the physical, social, and economic upliftment, morale, and welfare of Philippine Navy troops.
The participating organizations and individuals were: Financial Executives Institute (Women in Finance Leaders Bing Pasco, Maribeth Ty, Gina Marie Angangco, and Adele Jaucian), Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers (Regional Governor Engr. Jeddper de Castro and Northern Cavite President Benjamin Enriquez), Kaisa Para sa Kaunlaran (Founding President Tessy Ang Sy), Management Association of the Philippines (MAP President Marife Zamora and member Gemma Cruz Araneta), Quorum International, Inc.(QII)/Toby’s Sports (President Toby Claudio and Director Liz Claudio, Sports Resources President Rody Claudio, and Fitness Intelligence Trends General Manager Cecile Claudio), and individual supporters Rod Cornejo (Trustee, Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication) and Ms. Erlinda Ng. Unable to attend but had expressed their support also were MAP member Ramon Arnaiz, Chair, ATR Kim Eng-Maybank Capital Partners, Inc., Iris Giselle So, President, Yao Jia Xi Corp., and Marivikk C. Vinas, QII Director.
Dr. Corazon Claudio, member of the PN Board of Advisers and the CSYNF Board of Trustees, convened the group and encouraged all to participate in Sustainable Transformation, the new concept that is replacing Corporate Social Responsibility globally. She invited all to act as “transformers” with shared values that will work to make the Philippines become a progressive maritime country and that will help the PN achieve its goal of having a “strong and credible” navy. Toby Claudio, representing the biggest donor in the initial batch, presented the donations on behalf of the private sector group.
Vice Adm. Mercado thanked the Philippine Navy’s friends for their support “to get the Navy in its finest shape, in pursuit of a strong and competent Navy with an empowered human force, committed to our duty of protecting the seas and securing the future.” NPAO / MCAG
