Posted to Kalinaw News (Feb 7, 2023): Two Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) members surrendered to the military in Sulu on Monday morning, February 6



Commander of Joint Task Force Sulu, Maj. Gen. Ignatius Patrimonio, named the surrendered persons as a.k.a. Hadjang, 50, and a.k.a. Nadz, 20. They surrendered to the 6th Special Forces Battalion under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Harold Nemeo at the 6SFBn Headquarters in Sitio Maglibak, Barangay Buhanginan, Patikul, Sulu.

Personalities that surrendered took with them an M16 Elisco rifle and a cal. 45 handgun.

Col. Taharudin Ampatuan, Acting Brigade Commander at the headquarters of the 1103rd Infantry Brigade in Camp Bud Datu, Barangay Tagbak, Indanan, Sulu, received the former violent extremists and their weapons on the same day. The 1103rd Brigade gave the surrendered individuals with first cash and nutritional support.

“We attribute this success to the collaborative efforts of Joint Task Force Sulu, the provincial government of Sulu, our partners and stakeholders, and the peace-loving people of Sulu. The employment of the whole-of-nation approach has brought our campaign against terrorism to a greater height. Rest assured that we will continue to intensify our efforts to bring lasting peace and progress in Sulu and the rest of the provinces in our area of operation,” Lt. Gen. Roy Galido, Commander of Western Mindanao Command, said.
