BALER Aurora-A former Kabataang Makabayan (KM) President turned New People’s Army (NPA) rebel has surrendered to the 91st Infantry “Sinagtala” Battalion, Philippine Army in this province on Sunday afternoon.

Lt. Col. Reandrew P. Rubio, commander of 91st IB identified the NPA surrenderer as alias Ka Gi, former President of KM at Barangay Cadsalan, San Mariano, Isabela and former member/courier of Central Front, Komiteng Rehiyon (KR) Cagayan Valley, and a resident of Barangay Dimaseset, Dilasag, Aurora.

He was recruited from a Kabataang Makabayan to a member of the terrorist armed group.

Ka Gi, surrendered Sunday to the government troops armed with one (1) M16 rifle, one (1) short magazine for M16 with thirteen (13) rounds of ammunition for M16 and one (1) ICOM at Bravo Company, 91IB, Barangay Dibaraybay, Dinalungan, Aurora.

Rubio said that combined elements of Bravo Company, of 91st IB, 7ID (lead unit) led by 1LT BOBBY A FERRER (INF) PA, Bravo Company Commander, and Aurora Police Provincial Office facilitated the voluntary surrender of ka Gi.

He lauded the decision of Ka Gi to return to mainstream society and focus on being a productive citizen.

“This only shows that through our collaborative efforts are effective. The armed struggle has only brought sufferings, death and misery to our people. Let us stop using violence for the sake of nonsense revolution,” Rubio said.

He also urged other rebels to lay down their arms and return to the comfort of their families and friends.

“Live peacefully and take advantage of the government’s integration program because it will provide you with an opportunity to have a peaceful life in the communities and together we will solve our problems in a peaceful way,” he added.

The former rebel will soon avail him selves of the Enhanced-Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).
