A cache of firearms and ammunition was found on Wednesday by police and military authorities from an abandoned place in a remote village of Gubat, Sorsogon.
Maj. Maria Luisa Calubaquib, police regional office spokesperson, said those recovered include two Uzi assault rifles, two .45-caliber handguns, four .38-caliber pistols, seven magazines for M14 rifle, eight magazines for M16 rifle, a magazine for .45-caliber handgun, two magazines for Uzi, three batteries for handheld radio and 200 rounds of bullets for K3, SAW, M4, M16, Garand, and .38 and .45-caliber handguns.
The recovery of the arms cache stemmed from a call from an unnamed informant about the presence of firearms and ammunition in an abandoned place in Barangay Togawe at around 7 p.m. Tuesday.
A platoon of police and Army soldiers was dispatched to check on the report and found the arms hoarded in an abandoned area near the house of Diocoro Perez.
The recovered firearms and ammunition were turned over to the Army’s 31st Infantry Battalion.
