Eighty one Indigenous People (IP) leaders participated in the 1st Aurora Tribal Leaders’ Summit last October 17-18, 2019 at Costa Pacifica, Barangay Sabang, Baler, Aurora.
The two-day event was organized by the Aurora Peace, Law Enforcement and Development Support (PLEDS) cluster of the Aurora Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC).
With the theme “Katutubong Aurora, Kabalikat sa Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran,” the Summit aims to provide an avenue for IPs to air their grievances and concerns. Security-wise, it touched on the different recruitment and deception tactics of communist terrorist groups (CTG) and the important role of the IPs in countering the CTG propaganda.
