From the Philippine Information Agency (Aug 20, 2019): Army assists NPA burial in Bukidnon (By 8th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army)
IMPASUGONG, Bukidnon--The army troopers of the 8th Infantry Battalion, 4th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army extended help to the family of late Jenos Bade, an NPA combatant, during his wake in Barangay Mapolo, Malaybalay, Bukidnon, August 13.
Aside from the security offered, military troops brought a sack of rice and coffee during the vigil of Jenos Bade, an NPA member who died in the recent encounter of the soldiers against the NPA in Talakag, Bukidnon, August 11.
They also facilitated the burial assistance coming from the DSWD amounting to P 8,000.00. Soldiers spent two days and a night during the wake.
“Nagpasalamat ko sa army bisag kalaban sila sa amoang anak,nakadala sila ug tabang dayon giubanan pa mi hangtud sa lubong (I thank the army because even they are my child's opponents, they helped us and they were with us in the funeral),” the father, Elloly Bade said.
“Ingon siya sauna na magsecurity siya sa poultry sa Malaybalay pero wala nama'y nibalik ug nagkontak, niuli na lang siya na patay na (He said he will just guard the poultry in Malaybalay but nobody came back and got in touch, he just went home dead)," he added.
Lt Colonel Ronald Illana, commanding officer of the 8th Infantry Battalion expressed his sadness and extended his condolences to the family.
“We are saddened by what happened and we pray, may his soul to rest in peace. This could not have happened if he heeded our call to surrender”.
The Philippine Army will continue to serve the people especially those victims of recruitment on the NPA terrorist.
The army is always ready to welcome the NPA members who want to return to the folds of the law. (8IB,PA)
