In a gesture of trust, Dumagat Tribal Chieftains witnessed the return to the mainstream society of eleven members of their tribes who were deceived by the CPP NPA NDF into joining their fifty year old "revolution".
The returnee were received through a simple ceremony by the commanders of SOLCOM, LTGEN GILBERT I GAPAY AFP, 2ID MGEN RHODERICK M PARAYNO AFP and RD PRO4A PBGEN EDWARD E CARRANZA PNP.
The ceremony, which was also the culmination of Indigenous People Summit as part of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communists Armed Conflict RTFELCAC of the 202nd Infantry Brigade under BGEN ARNULFO MARCELO M BURGOS JR AFP, also witnessed the awarding of government initial grants worth Php 65,000.00 each to 20 former rebels enrolled in the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) by USec Reynaldo B Mapagu, Chairman of Task Force Balik Loob DND.
The Dumagat Tribal Chieftains acknowledged the efforts of the government in truly helping indigenous people. The Summit gave the twenty three Tribal Leaders better perspectives on the real situation of their ancestral lands and their people. They were able to see, aboard military helicopters and through the presentations and consultations, a bigger and better perspective of their lands, the government projects and other projects and activities inside and immediate vicinities that is affecting their lives. The experience made them realized that all the agitations from the lies and deceptions of the CPP NPA NDF are just meant to deceive their people into joining the terrorists. A mistake which had brought more pain, deaths and destruction to their tribes.
The Oath of Allegiance by the recent returnees was administered by Sec Jose Maria Nicomedes F Hernandez, the Chairman RTF ELCAC and the Presidential Adviser for Southern Tagalog. He emphasized on his remarks the importance of convergence in attaining the goal of ending local communist insurgency.
