From the Philippine News Agency (Jan 19): Military alerts brigade disaster relief and rescue teams in Northern Mindanao
The Army's 403rd Infantry Brigade (IB) has ordered on Thursday all its attached field battalions to keep all its disaster and relief teams on a high level of alert due to rising flood waters in some areas in Northern Mindanao.
Capt. Norman Tagros, the Army's 403rd IB spokesperson, said that the 121 families in the city of Valencia in Bukidnon evacuated as the waters of Pulangi Lake started to overflow.
He that a certain Charylou Panandigan, 32, of Barangay Sayawan, Impasug-ong, Bukidnon, was missing since Wednesday.
Panandigan was carried by the strong current while crossing the Tagoloan River in Impasug-ong town.
"Our soldiers, who now act as disaster relief and rescue units, were advised to position in areas which are assessed to require immediate assistance," Tagros said.
He said that the 403rd IB has six disaster and relief units deployed in Misamis Oriental and Bukidnon.
