A sidewalk vendor was injured when an improvised bomb
exploded along Quezon Avenue ,
this city Friday morning, the fourth blast that hit the city since Saturday.
Police reports said the blast occurred at 7 a.m. in front of
the main entrance of Padama Hotel.
Normanan Baliwan, a resident of Barangay Malagapas and a
sidewalk vendor, told reporters he was sweeping his stall and put the garbage
in a bin when the basket suddenly exploded.
Police post blast investigators are still on the site to
gather pieces of evidence.
The victim sustained very minor injuries since the
improvised explosive device has no shrapnel.
Three grenade attacks hit the city on Saturday, Monday and
Wednesday.
On Wednesday, a grenade was lobbed at the main gate of
National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Maguindanao office. Nobody was hurt.
On Monday afternoon, a grenade was lobbed at the roof of
Police Station 2 office. It did not explode.
Last Saturday, a smoke grenade was thrown at the office of
Traffic Management Unit that police believed was aimed at creating confusion so
the detainees could escape.
The TMU office is located beside the Police Station 1 lock
up cell.
