The Army’s 54th Infantry Battalion and civilian medical
practitioners of Mountain Province reached out to residents of Sadanga, Mountain Province through a medical-dental
mission and gift-giving.
On Dec. 4, the 54IB and Philippine Pharmacists Association-Mountain Province
Chapter (PPhA-MPC) conducted gift giving and feeding program to around 800
students from the elementary schools of Poblacion, Sacasacan, Bekigan, Demmang,
and Belwang. Students of the Alternative Learning System also benefited from
the event.
On Dec. 5, medical and urinalysis, tooth extractions, and haircuts were
administered to around 500 residents of same barangays.
One of the beneficiaries, 100-year-old Kib-oy Kinayen, from Poblacion who availed herself of the free medical check-up thanked the group.
Arlene Alingawad, PPhA-MPC president and coordinator of the activity, said the gifts, feeding, and medicines for the mission were sponsored by the PPhA-MPC, CB and F Marketing Association, Bontoc General Hospital, Provincial Health Office, and from those solicited by Charlie Company, 54IB.
The Philippine Army also provided additional medical personnel coming from 5th Infantry (Star) Division, PA, Upi, Gamu, Isabela.
L. Col. Eddie M. Pilapil, battalion commander of 54IB, thanked the PPhA-MPC members for their initiative.
“Seeing group of professionals who came together and look back to where they came from by providing free services to their less fortunate constituents is really a trait that this country must nurture among its citizens.”
