CAMP OSITO BAHIAN, MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon —The army’s 403rd Infantry (Peacemaker) Brigade, on December 13, joined the nation’s simultaneous Flag Raising in all major AFP camps to commemorate the National Human Rights Consiousness Week (NHRCW).

At the home of Peacemakers at Camp Osito Bahian in Impalambong, Malaybalay City, the 403rd Brigade soldiers raised the flag by reading the Human Rights Pledge or the “Panunumpa sa Karapatang Pantao.”

The activity was also highlighted by a "Ceremonial Signing of Wall of Commitment" by soldiers from different OpCon and tenant units of the brigade headed by Colonel Claro C. De Guzman, Deputy Brigade Commander.

In the same event, Philippine Red Cross Bukidnon Chapter President Jocelyn A. Daroy gave an overview on Human Rights & International Humanitarian Law (HR-IHL) during the symposium.

Anchored on the theme “Karapatang Pantao: Igalang, Ipagtanggol at Isakatuparan,” the ceremony aims to raise awareness on people’s basic Human Rights in relation to functions and services offered by the government as instruments in propagating human rights culture.

Likewise, the activity also directs soldiers to become more responsible members of the AFP and adhere to the by-laws and provisions of HR & IHL.

Currently, the 403rd Bde through its stakeholder engagement activities, in connection with the Internal Peace & Security Plan (IPSP) “Bayanihan,” is involving all major stakeholders in winning the peace. A tarpaulin/streamer reflecting the commemoration is being  displayed at the main gate of the camp to drum up people’s consciousness on the importance of knowing one’s ‘Human Rights’.
