FORT ANDRES BONIFACIO, Taguig City (DWDD) – The Philippine Army celebrates its 119th Founding Anniversary, March 22, 2016 in a ceremony at the Headquarters Philippine Army in Fort Andres Bonifacio, Taguig City.
The celebration is led by Lt Gen Eduardo Año, Commanding General of the Philippine Army with this year’s theme “Serving the People, Securing the Land.”
President and Armed Force of the Philippines Commander-in-Chief Benigno Aquino III is the Guest of Honor and Speaker.
Recognition was feted select officers, enlisted personnel, stakeholders, Cafgus, Cadets and civilian employees of the organization.
2Lt Franz Arvin R Balmaceda (INF) PA, PMA Class 2014, from Vinzons, Camarines Norte, currently the Platoon Leader Scout Pltn, HHSCO, 73IB, will be receiving the Gold Cross Medal for gallantry in action as Platoon leader of 73IB, 10ID during the successful series of encounters against 30 communist rebels at Sarangani Province which resulted to 7 NPA neutralized and recovery of 6-M16 rifles, 2-AK47, 1-M653, 5-IEDs, 15-blasting caps, 2-rifle grenades, 2-ICOM radios, personnel belongings and subversive documents on 16 February 2016.
