SARIAYA, Quezon – A New People’s Army leader was gunned down when he opened fire at government forces serving warrants of arrest on Sunday morning, July 30, in Barangay Lutucan Malabag, this town.Sariaya police chief Police Major Romar Pacis identified the communist rebel as Isagani Isita, alias “Alkin,” “Sid,” “Gani,” and “Shoge,” 42, a resident of Barangay Banana, Padre Garcia, Batangas.
Pacis said the police and military arrived in the area to implement five warrants of arrest against the suspect for various criminal cases issued by the courts in Occidental Mindoro, Rosario, Batangas; Tanauan City, Batangas, and Batangas City.
Pacis said Isita fired at lawmen who retaliated and wounded him.
Isita was taken to a hospital in Candelaria, this province, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Authotiries said the suspect is a vice platoon leader of Sinag 2, team leader of Tax Implementing Unit, Sub-Regional Military Area 4C, Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee (SRMA4C-STRPC), affiliated with Bayan Batangas, leader of Bayan Muna-Batangas, acting secretary general and spokesperson of Defend-Batangas, and member, Wacom-Batangas, in 2008.
