From Panay News (May 6, 2023): Slain rebel in Himamaylan identified (By DOMINIQUE GABRIEL G. BAÑAGA)
BACOLOD City – The New People’s Army (NPA) rebel killed in a gun battle in Barangay Buenavista, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, May 3, has been identified.Brigadier General Orlando Edralin of the 303rd Infantry Brigade (303IBde) identified the fatality as 36-year-old Crispin Tingal Acapadon, a member of the NPA’s Central Negros Front 2 and resident of Barangay Hilamonan in neighboring Kabankalan City.
According to Edralin, Acapadon was positively identified by his next of kin.
Government forces recovered an M653 rifle, assorted magazines with ammunition, medical kits and food supplies among others.
Edralin also identified the two wounded soldiers as Private First Class Denyl Reyes, a resident of San Enrique town in Iloilo, and Private First Class Jionald Dumagat, a resident of Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan Island, Cebu.
The wounded civilian was Ma. Fe Caboctolan, a resident of Barangay Buenavista, Himamaylan City. She was hit by a stray bullet.
The two soldiers and the civilian are in stable condition.
Edralin commended the Philippine Army’s 94th Infantry Battalion (94IB) for their prompt action. He also commended the vigilance of the local populace, indicating their concern for the peace and order of their community./PN
