Posted to Kalinaw News (May 14, 2022): NPA squad leader captured by Government forces yields 6 firearms and war materiel
MAWAB, Davao De Oro – Joint Intelligence Operations composed of troops from the 10th Infantry “Agila” Division and Philippine National Police recovered six (6) firearms along with an anti-personnel mine following the capture of a New People’s Army Squad Leader in Brgy. Simulao, Boston, Davao Oriental on May 12, 2022.
The capture of Cayetano Santos Jr alias “Juning”, squad leader under Regional Operations Command and Regional Headquarters (ROC/RHQ) of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) yielded one (1) Carbine Rifle, one (1) M1 Garand Rifle, one (1) USAS-12 Shotgun, one (1) RPG-2 Grenade Launcher, one (1) KG-9 Sub-Machine Gun, one (1) M16 Rifle, and (1) Anti-Personnel mine.
Alias “Juning” went on lie-low status due to his knee condition making him unable to walk long distances. Thus, he left the armed group at Brgy. Badiangon, Arakan, North, Cotabato in 2018 but did not surrender to the government forces.
The special intelligence operation was the result of combined efforts of the 67th Infantry Battalion, 104th Military Intelligence Company, Davao Oriental Police Provincial Office, and the 115th Special Action Company of the PNP Special Action Force under the supervision of the 701st Infantry Brigade.
10th Infantry “Agila” Division Commander, MGen Nolasco A Mempin commended the troops for its successful conduct of the joint intelligence operation. He said, “To those NPA members who went on lie-low and didn’t surrender, you cannot forever stay in your hideout. Surrender now while you still have a chance, don’t wait for the government forces to catch you.”
