Posted to Kalinaw News (May 7, 2022): NPA Child Warrior killed, firearms seized in Negros encounters
A 16-year-old New People’s Army (NPA) member died in a clash between the troops of the 15th Infantry (Molave Warrior) Battalion and the members of Platoon 3, South West Front ( Weakened) of KR-NCBS on May 3, 2022, at Sitio Tigmaya, Brgy Gatuslao, Candoni, Negros Occidental.
Three encounters happened after the troops received a tipped-off from the local populace about the presence of the armed group in the area. The first encounter was between the Alpha Company and the NPA rebels at about 5:30 pm. It was followed by two encounters between the blocking forces, which is the Scout Platoon, and the withdrawing terrorist group at about 5:48 pm and 6:46 pm.
The encounter resulted to the death of Anthony Tecson alias @KISAP/@BOYCA, a Medical Officer of SQD 1, SDG PLTN 2/Sqd 2, Pltn 3, SWF-W, from Sitio Maabon, Brgy Cabadiangan, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental.
Recovered from the encounter site where one (1) M16 Rifle, one (1) Caliber .45 pistol, one (1) Anti-Personnel Mine (APM); four (4) magazines, ammunition, a commercial radio, a cellphone, and NPA personal belongings.
In his statement, Major General Benedict Arevalo, 3rd Infantry Division Commander, commended the persistent support and cooperation of the local populace by giving the troops correct and timely information about the presence of the NPAs in the area.
Likewise, he congratulated the operating troops for a successful operation against the CPP-NPA and for their burning passion and dedication to end this decade-long insurgency not only in Negros island but as well as to the areas of Western and Central Visayas.
“We strongly condemn the continuous recruitment of innocent minors by the CPP-NPA terrorists. Using them in their senseless armed struggle is a clear violation of the International Humanitarian Law (IHL)”, said MGen Arevalo.
