Provincial Government of Cotabato Accepts 27 Balik-Loob and Their Firearms
The 602nd Infantry (LIBERATOR) Brigade, together with the Provincial Local Government of Cotabato, formally accepted the laying down of arms of twenty-four (24) former violent extremist (FVEs) and three (3) former rebels (FRs) coming from the municipalities of Matalam, Pikit, Aleosan and Midsayap all of Cotabato on 02 March 2022 at 602nd Brigade Covered Court, Camp Robert Edward M Lucero, Carmen, Cotabato.
The presentation of BALIK-LOOB and their firearms was hosted by the 602nd Infantry (LIBERATOR) Brigade under the supervision of COL JOVENCIO F GONZALES INF (GSC) PA, Commander, with the efforts of 90th Infantry (Bigkis-Lahi) Battalion under LTC ROMMEL T MUNDALA INF (GSC) PA and 34th Infantry (Reliable) Battalion under LTC EDGARDO L VILCHEZ JR INF (GSC) PA.
COL GONZALES presented the twenty-four (24) members of DI/BIFFs and three (3) members of CTGs with their assorted firearms to Hon. Nancy A. Catamco, Governor, Province of Cotabato; and Ms. Jocelyn G. Maceda, RSW, PSWD Officer. Also present during the activity were Hadja Mariam Criste of Kabacan, Cotabato and Mr. Luis R. Caytor, E-CLIP Focal Person of the Provincial Social Welfare Development Office of Cotabato.
As a gesture of their commitment to peace and support to the government, the BALIK-LOOB voluntarily surrendered their twenty-two (22) High-powered firearms, three (3) Low-powered firearms, and other war materiel.
COL GONZALES lauded the bravery of the BALIK-LOOB who have changed their hearts towards peace for the benefit of their love ones and their community.
“Your change of hearts will definitely change your lives with the support of the security sectors and the government” He added.
The BALIK-LOOB personalities was overcome with great emotion as they expressed their desire to live in peace and harmony with their families.
Governor Catamco lauded the initiatives of the Brigade and its operational controlled units as she warmly welcomed and accepted the BALIK-LOOB to the Province of Cotabato. She provided initial assistance to every personality in a form of a sack of rice and assorted groceries. She also challenged them to be faithful with the government and ask for unity for the common goal of peace and development. “The Local Government of Cotabato will provide appropriate assistance to ensure your successful transition as productive members of the society in the Province of Cotabato” She added.
