The infantry units of Army’s 3rd Infantry Division stationed in Western and Central Visayas are getting more soldiers after 114 neophyte soldiers completed and graduated from the seven-month rigorous and rigid military training at Camp Macario Peralta on March 7 in Jamindan, Capiz.
Maj. Gen. Benedict Arevalo, 3rd Infantry Division commander, congratulated the new Army privates for completing the Candidate Soldier and Infantry Operation Courses.
Arevalo, who reminded them of the 3ID mantra “Loved by the people, and feared by the enemy,”said he is hopeful that the neophyte soldiers will increase government’s peace efforts to end decades-long local armed conflict in Regions 6 and 7.
Among the 114 Army soldiers is Private Rolando Garzon, a CAFGU Active Auxiliary from Binalbagan, Negros Occidental.
The 114 new soldiers are expected to be deployed in Negros, Panay and Bohol.
They were issued with R4 Carbine automatic rifles during the entrustment rites, a tradition that symbolizes supremacy of civilian authority over the military.
