From the Panay News (Nov 20. 2021): Negros police convenes Army, PCG (BY DOMINIQUE GABRIEL BAÑAGA)
The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) yesterday convened heads and officers of the Philippine Army’s 303rd Infantry Brigade (303IB) and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) station in Negros Occidental to discuss preparations for the upcoming 2022 local and national elections.Representing the 303IB was their commander, Brigadier General Inocencio Pasaporte, while for PCG was Coast Guard District Western Visayas deputy commander and PCG-Negros Occidental chief, Captain Ludovico Librilla Jr.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) was represented by Atty. Kathrina Trinio-Caña of Comelec-Bacolod and Atty. Ian Lee Ananoria of Comelec-Negros Occidental.
NOCPPO director, Police Colonel Romy Palgue, said the meeting aimed to strengthen coordination and interoperability among the security forces.
The law enforcement agencies also discussed plans for increased monitoring for possible election hotspots in the province.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) earlier signed Resolution No. 11-2021 which includes the PCG into the Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Council.
Officials from the Comelec have also shown their calendar of activities as well as the prohibited acts during the election period.
The Comelec gun ban is set to begin on Jan. 9 to June 8 next year.
