NPA surrenderees vow to help government expose Communist Party’s recruitment to armed struggle
Regional Officers of CTG linked organizations Surrender to 10ID
SAN FERNANDO, BUKIDNON – CTG personalities Paulette Santos CASTILLO @ELLA, Regional Coordinator of Rural Missionaries of the Phippines (RMP) and Regional Peasant Secretariat of SMRC and Lear Lita Badilla GALLO @NANCY, Liaison/Finance and Logistics of Haran voluntarily surrendered to 89th Infantry (Makatao) Battalion at Sitio Balakayo, Brgy Kalagangan, San Fernando, Bukidnon on July 1, 2021. The surrender was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Alpha Company, 89IB.
Ella and Nancy decided to leave the group and surrender to the military to seek government assistance, start and live a new and peaceful life with their families.
LTC DONALD P GAFFUD INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer, 89IB was very delighted and acknowledged their courage in abandoning the armed struggle in order to start anew. “I am appealing to the remaining CTG personalities to come down and embrace the government’s program under E-CLIP which offer oppurtunities for you to start living peacefully and be reunited with your families.”
He added that the 89IB will ensure that they will benefit from the E-CLIP and other programs of the government for former CTG members specifically interventions on poverty reduction to help improve their economic condition as they go back to their former communities to start a normal and peaceful life.
The unit’s aggressive implementation of various government programs, together with the different government agencies and other stakeholders through EO70, aims to encourage more surrenderees and eventually clear the communities from CTG’s threat and influence in order to make it peaceful, progressive and conflict-resilient.
Meanwhile, Commander 10ID, Major General Ernesto C Torres Jr PA lauded the leadership of 89IB in steering the Battalion and encourage the troops to continuously accomplish every given task. “The surrender of Ella and Nancy is one of the remarkable achievements of the line units under 10th Infantry (Agila) Division that proves the commitment of the government to help those who were deceived by CPP-NPA-NDF go back to the folds of the law. Rest assured that 10ID will provide the necessary assistance while government agencies are providing interventions for you to have a new life and decent source of living,” MGen Torres said.
