BALER, Aurora – Two CPP-NPA terrorist members surrendered to government troops in Aurora province on June 25, 2021.

According to the report from the Philippine Army’s 91st Infantry “Sinagtala” Battalion (91IB) 7th Infantry “Kaugnay” Division (7ID), the former rebels were identified as “Ka Max” and “Ka Dodong”, member of Komiteng Larangang Guerilla Sierra Madre (KLG-SM) of NPA’s Sentro De Gabridad (SDG) Platoon in this province.

Lt. Col. Reandrew P. Rubio, Commander 91IB said that joint elements of 1st Aurora Provincial Mobile Force Company (APMFC) led by Police Major Bartolome A. Antolin, Force Commander, together with the Police personnel of Baler and Maria Aurora Police Stations and other security forces facilitated the voluntary surrender of two (2) former member CTG in Barangay Calabuanan, Baler, Aurora.

Lt. Col. Rubio added that the surrenderers were decided to yield because of their desire to live a peacefully with their family.

The former rebels also revealed that they experienced hardships, abuses and corruptions inside the terrorist organization.

“The surrender of two (2) former CPP-NPA-Terrorists CNTs was a clear manifestation that more dismantled terrorist will abandon the armed struggle. It is timely for them to surrender as government agencies are willing to extend services to the rebels who will return to the fold of the law. We appeal to those active armed rebels to lay down your arms and help the government to end this local armed conflict,” Lt. Col. Rubio said.

He also explained that the whole-of-nation approach of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict will continue.

He encouraged everyone to continue to work hand-in-hand to end the insurgency and achieve lasting peace in the whole province.
