MALUSO, Basilan – Residents here in Barangay Tubigan hails strong partnership with the military during the conduct of barangay assembly last Saturday, 21 November 2020 with the theme: ‘Makilahok, Makisali’, where they discussed about the peace and order situation as well as the Covid-19 updates in the community.
The barangay officials headed by Hon. Ariel Laping, the Barangay Chairman, discussed about the new ordinances approved by the council, and also reminded the constituents on the strict implementation of Covid-19 health protocols.
It can be recalled that Barangay Tubigan has been mercilessly attacked by notorious Abu Sayyaf bandits three times way back in February 2010, May 2016, and August 2017, respectively, which claimed several innocent lives. As of present, the military installed a detachment in the community and initiated socio-economic interventions together with partner Local Government Agencies and Non-Government Organizations.
First Lieutenant Alvin K. Balangcod, the Commanding Officer of the 14th Special Forces Company based in Maluso, reiterates the strong commitment of the military, and ensures the safety not only in the Barangay Tubigan but also in the whole of Maluso.
“Gagawin natin ang lahat para masiguro na tuloy-tuloy na ang kapayapaan dito sa inyong komunidad,” 1LT Balangcod said.
Lieutenant Colonel Alex D. Ampati, the Commanding Officer of the 4th Special Forces Battalion, praised the collaboration of the different stakeholders who helped the community achieve peace and development.
“Makakamtan natin ang kapayapaan at kaunlaran kung tayong lahat ay magkakaisa,” Lt Col Ampati said.
Also present in the assembly were Mr. Paulo Rick Lataba from Nagdilaab Foundation Inc., respective Barangay Council members, and other instrumentalities from the local government unit.
